Mikala Munter Gundersen grew up in Denmark and has been an equine enthusiast and Dressage Trainer/ Instructor for over 25 years. Her love of horses, beginning at an early age, and her desire to share this with others, compelled her to complete years of the Equestrian Education in Denmark to become a certified Trainer.
After completing her formal education, Mikala had the opportunity to train with two-time Olympic Silver Medalist and World Champion, Lis Hartel. Under Ms. Hartel's guidance, Mikala quickly became a highly esteemed stallion rider, and was very successful in the competition arena.
On her way to competing in the Grand Prix, Mikala often traveled to Germany to train with her close friend Lisa Wilcox, Olympic Bronze Medalist, and Lisa’s trainer Ernst Hoyos ,a former Riding Master at The Spanish Riding School in Vienna for 29 years.
In 2004, Mikala with her husband Henrik- a Grand Prix jumper rider, and their two children Claudia and Casper, chose to move to the U.S. and introduce their popular horse treadmill business to the States. Mikala continued her teaching and training business in Wellington, Florida.
During 2006, her first season competing in the U.S., Mikala won both a Grand Prix and a Grand Prix Special on Pinocchio, (owned by Rebecca Kelly) as well as several other victories and places riding Marwick and D’Allegra, also owned by (Rebecca Kelly). Additionally, Mikala successfully competed on her own horse Gryffindor in the young horse division, and Cipriano (owned by Sonja Ucci) in the international Grand Prix ring.
In January 2007, Mikala took over the exciting opportunity of continuing the training of Horses Unlimited’s elite dressage stallions- Leonberg, Galant Du Serein, Pik L, Wild Dance and Pikko del Cerro.

In 2009 & 2010 Mikala and Leonberg travelled to Europe to compete at The Danish Championships and showing on the Danish team in the prestigious 5***** CHIO Aachen and Rotterdam.
In these years Pikko Del Cerro stayed among the top young horses in USA showing successfully in the 4, 5 and 6-year old division. Winning the Markel US Young Horse Championship as a six year old.
Mikala then handed over the reins of Pikko Del Cerro to her close friend Lisa Wilcox who continued the success by winning the Developing Young Horse program and International Grand Prix’s.
In 2011 Mikala started showing Destany, a Danish Warmblood mare by Don Shufro owned by Erin Moran Macyck who also showed the mare at CDI’s. In 2013 Destany was Reserve Champion at The Regional Finals at Intermediare 1 level.
In 2013 and 2014 Mikala has been traveling to Europe with My Lady, a Danish Warmblood mare owned by Janne Rumbough, to be part of the Danish Team in several events, with the 2014 World Equestrian Games in France being the highlight of her career.

Mikala has had many great success stories with a multitude of horses (36 horses) and clients since her early years in Wellington. She has earned her Bronze, Silver and Gold medal while living in the U.S.
Mikala & Henrik now call Bell Tower Farm their home where they both train horses & riders, and continue to be the U.S. representatives of the popular and proven Horse Gym USA Treadmill system.
